Pork Faff Therapy/ What are you eating?

What did you think? There’s a farm near here that does water buffalo and I wasn’t that impressed, tbh.

It was nice and all that, but taste wise it was just beef, with a few quid per steak added on.

I’ve had water buffalo in India and it was very good. They quite like cows, so beef is rather hard to come by

Yes, it tastes a lot like beef, but if what I had was anything to go by, very tender, very tasty, very recommended.

Our local Water Buffalo graze a field that is next to the lake that legend says Excalibur and that lady live in, so you’d think that it’d be a bit, erm, magical and all that.

I suspect it wasn’t matured long enough. Although, yes, now you mention it, it was quite tender.

The buffalo I’ve had has been underwhelming. It should be strong and gamey. Sadly, that would make it more difficult to market.

That’s what I was expecting, but it’s just a cow at the end of the day, I suppose, and a farm reared one at that.

The name Buffalo conjures up a feeling of something wild, with the expectation of a taste to match.

I wonder what Bison (American buffalo) or wild African buffalo tastes like?

I know what you mean. However, I only paid £15 for the 3. Which is cheaper than 3 sirloins from Aldi (which I like).

They were better than Aldi steaks generally are. The flavour was half decent and they were tender. Plus a bit cheaper. At that price I’d buy again, but I wouldn’t pay much of a premium.

Was going to correct you and say the Lady in the lake lived in Dozmary pool on Bodmin but remembered that Arthurian legend is utter nonsense and that 'watery bints* don’t really live in lakes.

Made paneer (1at attempt) with the kids this morning.

Going to attempt to make this for their tea tonight. I say attempt because I’m not convinced the paneer won’t just crumble when trying to coat with marinade and get onto the skewers

Ha d fun this morning though, even if it doesn’t work

Cornish sardines and samphire.

Followed by swordfish for Narelle, and this…

…for me. Not epic proportions but all the right flavours and filling. 8oz pattie (charred and smokey), bacon, cheese, egg, lettuce, spicy relish, and pickles on brioche :+1:

Very small potatoes :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

Fresh ? Cornish Sardines or indeed mackerel epic, as per the thread header I am not interested in what Narelle is eating.

Tomato, taleggio, and wilted spinach penne.

Served with crispy asparagus

Tomato is the wrong sauce for a chicken & mushroom pie. Did it explode?

Has grand('ish) plans. Was going to make paneer and make a couple of chettinad dishes using stoneflower which I bought this week. Never used it before. The paneer fucked up though - not sure what I did wrong but it just didn’t set and was like runny ricotta. So… Thai takeaway. Mixed starters for two, green curry, a stir fry dish and rice.

This is what I was going to make. I made the cauliflower and egg one before without the stoneflower and it was still really nice
