Looks like a porridge faff thread needed. My mum used to put butter on the top and evaporated milk, sugar had to be brown

I somehow feel the thread title may need changing?

Perhaps something like ‘Adventures In Porridge’.

Wineglass of oats, wineglass of water, wineglass of milk & pinch of salt in a bowl. Plate on top.
2 mins 30, give a stir, another 45 seconds keeping an eye on it.
Out, stir, add syrup cream sugar whatever to taste. :+1:

Lots of salted butter is better option

Tempted to lurch into a make your own custard diversion but stuff to do!

Porridge absolutely must have salt.

Those are the ratios I like. Others might prefer it runnier but I prefer it to have some substance.

Not sure why we’re talking porridge though. It’s still Summer. The tub beckons for later.

There is probably huge scope for oat faff here.

I use the same ratios but have never tried the microwave method.

I make what I call drinking porridge. Just plenty of oats in my smoothie. Quite think but still a drink. Tastes like porridge.

Just keep an eye on it the first couple of times. Your microwave might be more or less efficient.

I rarely make porridge just for me, I expect timings change for more servings…

I think that the microwave is best for a single serving. Might do two, but three or more and I’d definitely use the hob.
