Agree with all that. There are way too many overpriced untested units that are a money pit for the unprepared who might think of taking a punt on a unit.
The first unit I bought was very clean cosmetically but internally was a complete write off. I gave that to Stephen and threw £650 ish at it and got a great sounding unit back, so @Rob998 got a very sorted unit when he took that off me.
My plan in the next 3 months is to get both off my decks to Stephen, and get the Teac IEC playback circuit sorted, and maybe have the Technics converted to direct output so I can run a separate tape head amp from it. Just the small matter of two all day round trips to Peaslake to drop off and collect.
I bought a teac xr10 then spectacularly failed to acquire any media other than one tape from merica that hisses throughout
Tim did bring a Simon and Garfunkel tape over a while back and it sounded glorious so not given up hope yet, now I am retired I should have time for this kind of thing
Stu, if u gave tapes you might sell do let me know
Mine cost £600 fully serviced, nice to hear it’s still worth at least that
The Ruprecht web experience will surprise and delight from the very first click (which will trigger a splendid Trojan) before re directing clientele to the Funzie casino.
But there’s so much more! We’ll skim all email addresses for free so customers, their friends and family can wonder at fabulous Nigerian tales / demands they will be receiving 8-9 times a day. Maybe some fun webcam seizures and blackmail if we’ve got the bandwidth too.
Wanted to squeeze a kind of bake off thing in too called blast off where Stu tests all janky old kit in his shed with no roof and a broom pole while people scream at him to stop but I think that’s going to have to be added later?
But prolly gonna need a Cease And Desist letter from your local electricity distribution board to really give it the full hipster-friendly vibe of authenticity
“Welcome to THE SMOKING SUBSTATION - today we’re switching on some NVA amplifiers - naked AND standing in a bucket of water!!!”

Sadly the ones I have are 1/2 and two inch. The only 1/4 inch ones I have are empty metal spools and very flaky ones that need transferring to digital before they are useless.
