Refinishing wooden amp sleeve, help!

I have just fetched the Luxman back from Firebottle where it has been serviced and given a clean bill of health. It sounds excellent now, but is let down by the tatty wooden sleeve. Any recommendations on how to improve the looks of it?

One either end?

What you need to do is get rid of those unsightly scratches and make it look lovely again :+1:

You’re going to get ripped a new one on here asking for advice. Try the PFM DIY section.

Were you sharpening your cartridge chisel on the cabinet?

What about taking it to get French polished?

Jeezus, it only has a little scratch on it, I never knew you were so fussy!

Would that be spendy?

I’ve changed

Will the sleeve come off easily?

No idea

Reminds me … I need to get some kindling as bad weather forecast.

I was thinking more of a quick rub down and wallop a couple of coats of creosote on :sunglasses:

If you want to avoid stripping and refinishing . . .

I’ve tried the Restor-A-Finish and Feed-N-Wax, both worked well.

All joking aside… I’d re-sleeve in acrylic.

If it’s got a sleeve then it’s a coat Shirley?
