There was a time when Paul (Earl of Sodbury) would post something on an almost daily basis that would have me in tears of laughter. Hell, it was even an absolute pleasure to be insulted by him as he would do it so intelligently and eloquently!

I recall having a series of discussions with him around a huge valve stash he came into possession of, it was both fascinating and terrifying in equal measures, probably due to my sheltered upbringing

He had a quite successful business which sold mobility aids, zimmer frames and wheelchairs etc. I remember having some interaction with him where he couldn’t wait for the NHS to be fully privatised so he would sell stuff to them,
I pointed out that the NHS bought shit from wherever, it didn’t matter if it was publicly or privately funded.
He came back at me saying he wouldn’t tender for a contract to supply a “Socialist” organisation.
He was an absolute dick.

Aw, crap.
Just attempted a visit to the wam and all became clear.
I feel a strange nostalgic sadness for a relationship that ended a long time ago, but which brought a great deal of happiness while it lasted.
A bit like hearing that a long-estranged ex has died. She may have slept with your best mate, tortured your very soul and burned your LP collection, but it still prompts a tear…
Just the one, mind - she was a selfish, crazy bitch, after all.
So here I am, seeking solace in a forum I can barely be bothered to visit, in order to express my feelings about another forum I could barely be bothered to visit.
I do take some solace from the thought that there is far too much bile in this place for it ever to die quietly. When I need somewhere to to share my worries, the thought of being called a stupid cunt by people I can at least tolerate is quite comforting.
