Settle down now! Sep 5th - 7th '25

I’ve got a Pink triangle anniversary with Alphason arm you could use.

It would need a non refundable £2600 deposit though :winking_face_with_tongue:

For anyone who hasn’t been before, or who has forgotten, this is where we are going

Hornby Laithe Bunkbarn, Main Road, Stainforth, Settle, BD24 9PB

It’s on the road from Settle to Horton (B6479), about 2 miles north of Settle, and about half a mile before Stainforth village.

If you just put Hornby Laithe into Google maps it will find the place.

Hornby Laithe Bunk Barn | Large Group Accommodation in the Yorkshire Dales

This is what it looks like when approaching from Settle. Turn in immediately after the big tree on the left, and drive down the track to the barn. Please park close and tidy, and don’t park on the track between the wooden and stone barns.
.

Check in is 3pm onwards, if you arrive in Settle early then Ye Olde Naked Man in the main square will serve you a decent cup of tea.(other cafes are available).

Remember to bring a sleeping bag (or bedding) and a towel in addition to normal personal stuff.

I’ve almost always slept in the car Dave, so I’ve automatically brought a pillow too. I can’t remember, do the bunks indoors have those ?

If you miss the turning in from site on the left, going by the satnav takes you to the next left, which then takes you through the most wonderful drive through mostly single track roads back to a farmhouse that doesn’t give you access back to anywhere.

Well worth it thought this idiot when he put Settle in and tried again.

Yes Graeme, there is a pillow for each bunk

Looks like Saturday is going to be warm and sunny now!

Always helps the al fresco, sun terrace, cookfest.

It’s September, accurate weather forecasts involve looking out of the window to see which of heatwave/snow/floods/famine’n’pestilence/red-hot lava are going-on rn.

After 3PM it’s Micky in the bunkhouse kitchen

We need to bring personal towels as well, I seem to recall. Otherwise it is a trawl round the charity shops.

You are basically getting an extremely squeaky bunk bed and a hardcore filled mattress. If you need anything else bring it with you :slightly_smiling_face:

I seem to remember trying this . Charity shops might not sell second hand towels for human use - You might need to ask for a dog one.

I’ve bought them in the past to protect painted surfaces when kit is on the workbench. I might have had to ask at the counter if they had any, but I don’t recall them asking me what I wanted them for.

I had to buy a dog towel last year.
I’ll be bringing it back to use this weekend
Apparently they have to sell them as dog towels cant be sold for human use.
have you ever heard anything to daft. what kind of world have we made???

Best 50p I ever spent

It is down to the individual charity whether they sell used (human) towels.
Most would refuse on hygiene reasons.
Volunteers and staff need a policy to follow they cannot make decisions on an individual basis as every person would have a different idea of what was acceptable.

Yet the bedding you lie on in hospital, and the gown they give you to wear, won’t be single-use and who knows what pathogens the previous user will have been carrying ? If you launder something properly you can essentially sterilise it.

Charity shops don’t have laundries.
