Shiny brand new second hand cars in your driveway

I’ve found your next chariot:

Perfect, no? :innocent:

Oh Fuck No!

I had to suffer driving one of those shitboxes when I joined Royal Mail, a horrible, slow, cold, rattling torture instrument of a vehicle.

For some reason people used to steal the doors off them and when RM ran out of spares they got scrapped, to be replaced, for a very short period, with Maxus offerings. These nearly all died with seized gearboxes.

Leyland Sherpa! They were crap in 1974 - astounding to think they somehow had a 30 year production run! No fucking wonder we have no motor industry any more…

Longer still, as it has way more in common with the Austin J4 than is immediately obvious:

just make sure whatever you do, that the timing chain has been done if its getting up in mileage. These share engines with the R56 generation mini’s and are notorious for failing timing chain guides, tensioners etc. One of them slips timing and its game over!

So if its more than 40k miles, be sure that the chain is absolutely silent, or that it’s been taken care of in some way. I had to pay £1600 to have the chain replaced in my R58 mini coupe.

Train to Wymondham booked for Saturday for pick up, then the long slog home to get a feel for the car :slightly_smiling_face:.

Always liked the look of these. First impressions?

Been driving for a couple of hours now and I’m finding the ‘cockpit’ very comfortable with all the controls in easy reach. Nice amount of power as far as I’m concerned and this is the base model, had the spoiler up full tilt automatically :sunglasses: but only as a test. It’s also the base model trim-wise but it’s feeling very nice in here, though it’s not as if I’m used to luxury. Handling is nice and I’ve had a smile on my face a fair few times already :slightly_smiling_face:.

Very happy with it for the money paid and I’m about to go in the services and admire the lines on the walk back over. Never thought I’d buy a Peugeot but never say never.
