Happy to enjoy TT again after decades of digital.
Whatās the record rudeboi
I have my subs connected to the output from the power amps to the high input of the subs, rather than the pre-amp connected to the low input of the sub.
The sub manufacturer said that connecting to a valve pre would likely be noisy
It`s a Bergmann Sindre with a Holistic Audio modified Denon 103.
Pete said that he tried connecting the SITs to your subs last weekend via the high inputs, but that didnāt work either because of oscillation?
Thanks but what record is playing
Yes there was an issue but I canāt remember whether we connected to the pre (Not M7) or the SITs
probably was SITs thinking about it
A forum favourite
The deep end indeed - critical sonic assessment whilst nursing a boner. A*
The Death Metal gods are not pleased.
Didnāt know that, I always thought prog was the prevailing music here.
Fun fact, about some 4 decades ago a Dutch (female) DJ Meta de Vries, played a Casiopea song. That was when DJās were knowledgeable about music, instead of being a talk show host like in mainstream Dutch radio nowadays. To me, sheās one of the best DJās NL radio ever had.
Anyway, because of her, one of my favourite tunes is āWhat canāt speak canāt lieā by Casiopea sung by Kiki Dee.
Sounds like what you need is an Emia Remote AVC, see here: Remote Autoformer. Iāve had a silver one for a few years now and love it. It is very transparent as you might expect with a āpassiveā but still dynamic. Iām not sure where you are but Iād happily lend it to you for a week when we are away on holiday if you would like to listen to it?
Thatās a very kind offer David but Iām fairly sure the Emia is very similar to the pre I already have - the Aurorasound Preda.
It even has an identical remote!
Only one way to find out.
How very dare you
Now that I have this dialled in, I just canāt believe how much of a positive difference it has made. Everything from bass to soundstage has markedly improved.
It can even keep up with the speakers, so itās a and mucho
from me.
Now and then I think of getting a sub. Should of kept the castle one I had.
Pretty sure the neighbours are pleased I sold it though
Itās a little different though I know at one stage the Preda did use Dave Slagleās AVCās. The Preda is active with a couple of gain/buffer stages whilst the Emia is entirely passive, essentially just the AVCās. The Preda is certainly a more general purpose preamplifier however when you have high efficiency speakers, which you do, extra gain just adds noise and a passive could be the solution.
