Rare…
I thought so when a friend with an A30 bought Arcs and teamed them together (I fucking hate Shahinians in general, so I thought it was double batshit) - turned out it sounded great, I ate a large slice of humble pie; it just wouldn’t go Full Stadium.
I only live in a little house so full bathroom might be nearer the truth
Doh! F**king predictive text (might be my sausage sized thumbs though)
Yeah, would work if you don’t need too much volume - grunty little amps those A30s
The previous A30 I owned worked really well with the Bastanis so it might work with both sets.
I think the verb would be “dominate” rather than “suit”
In other news I caught myself measuring to check that the 303 would fit in the rack. That can’t be a good sign.
Nike
I had a pair of the TLX3gi (very similar concept) back in the 80’s (I think?) and remember liking them a lot, but Ihonestly have no idea what happened to them!
You could paint them grey and have them added to one of your brutalist architecture maps.
Also the year that my house was built.
I have now convinced myself that it’s only proper for me to install a historically correct amp
Some time in the new year probably.
Correct decision, no doubt.
A lovely sounding Sugden a41?
A week in now with the Etsuro Cobalt Blue and the what a great cartridge. Somehow it keeps me pinned to my seat when I’m listening to it. It is certainly living up to my expectations and so far I am not hankering to swap it out with the Bordeaux. Under the circumstances I thought I should make sure I keep it as pristine as possible so a DS Audio stylus cleaner has been ordered.
Pleased to heear it is everything you hoped it would be Nick
I’ve got a Rogers Cadet 3 here. Experience the mighty roar of push pull ECL86s.
Yebbut, it’s all about pedigree, history, authenticity innit ?
Whaddya mean, its mid 60s innit? It’s got unobtainium ECC807 valves!
Had a very nice visit from Nick @Myrman this afternoon and he kindly brought over his rather lovely Aavik amplifier so we could really see what my Gershmans could do.
He has even let me keep it for a bit.
The Aavik is very smooth and refined.
