726 burglaries later, and he’s doing pretty well…

While I don’t think that pensions should be solely based upon the family home, I do think that people should be encouraged to move from a family home to a more suitable place when they retire.
My folks did this - they sold a big house in suburbia, and bought two flats: their main home is close to their friends and family (except me!), and they have a holiday flat. Both are well located for good facilities they can walk to - shops, cafés etc.
They remain reasonably active, when if they had stayed in their family home they would start to get increasingly isolated now. And someone else can raise a family there.
My Astra is my pension plan,at present day rates,it could be in excess of £230
What’s a pension? I plan to be dead at 66 with a body full of cocaine and viagra with a hooker sat on my face.
Screaming out to be the title of someones album.
Just make sure the hooker doesn’t play front row in the rugger team
Pah! Fussy bugger.
Yep, but that is a different issue. The idea that you would invest everything into an illiquid asset (and forego all the tax breaks around a pension plan) is just silly.
I can’t test them as the AVO mk 3 current have a magnoval socket, so need an adapter. We put the be ones in, but bias didn’t need adjusting, so the old ones are probably ok and can be kept as spares.
I’ve been very kindly loaned (by a friend) a substantial, 12" platinum series BK sub to try in my system. I’ve got the filter set to approx. 45hz and the volume is just over half way, ive spent the last week turning it down bit by bit. It does very little in the grand scheme of things, but makes a notable improvement to the overall sound of my system.
I’ve taken some in room measurements to confirm levels and filter set point, the slope (unadjustable) is quite long so it is adding to upper bass as well, but not that I can hear. Sub 40hz bass aside, the whole presentation is more cohesive and more relaxing to listen to. The subtle drive and depth it adds to dance music is spot on and pretty much what I’d hoped for.
Although bass is supposed to be non-directional I can tell where the bass is coming from as my room is quite big, so I’m probably going to press on and order a pair of smaller 10" ones as im lucky to have a suitable gap next to each main speaker.

I’m so impressed with BK subs. They are great value.
I have one of the small XLS200 units in my lounge AV system. Aside from sounding decent, the build quality is fantastic for the price. The walnut veneer is genuinely good.
Prolly going to get a pair of those in white. Yes they’re fantastic value, good knows how they do it for the money.
Done the same thing and came to the same conclusion
I took a punt on an MJA Pro50 for £90 on ebay to try with my B&W DM110i’s and it’s been great albeit I have a smallish room so need to be mindful of volume as it really does some kick-ass bass.
