Jebuz - I’m going to be so soothed !

Point of order: in that famous test, people could tell the difference with statistically significant reliability, BUT they preferred the sound of MP3.

Thus proving that people are idiots and are The Reason We Can’t Have Nice Things :poop:

When are the cabinet s being replaced?

Not sure really, I’m kind of worn out with speaker projects (Which always lead to more ‘projects’) I’m going to live with em a while.

I note that they have been attached with pieces of vintage Meccano.
Is this because Stronzetto has hoofed all the glue?

Bean cans require something entirely more galvanised and besides stronzetto wouldn’t share !

Why don’t you build offboard crossovers and just wire the drive units up directly to the binding posts? Gotta be easier in the long run.

I expect that will be the long term solution. It was a fiddly business today. Would be better laid out properly with all soldered joints etc

Would also make changing the baffle to decent wood much easier. I’m trying to think of whether there is a good reason for using chipboard, as it will be lossy and damped compared to ply, but I can’t really come up with one. I imagine that moving to ply will be one of those “technically better in basically every respect, but will you actually prefer the sound?” kind of things.
