Shiny brand new second hand things in my system today

It does look impressive. Is it really 134.5kg in weight? That’s nearly as much as the average member here. :flushed:

Sadly I’ve never seen one
That is seriously heavy

My member is rather huge.
But I’d say that was just a bit heavier.

So possibly not as mahoosive as I first feared then? Got a tune out of them yet?

I have (on the understanding that the partnering equipment is altogether different to anything you’re likely to go with). First impressions; much more bass than I expected and the sweet spot is larger than a £2 coin which is the main issue of its little brother. Top end still has the roll off that comes with the territory but they go like the clappers.

Now I know why you get paid for this stuff

Thanks, I’d be interesting how you find these as you put a few more hours on them.

I might have saved myself a few grand by buying a pair of Audience 1+1 for a few hundred quid.

You’ve lost me with the link there.

You’ve got the 510s now, right? Which little brother are you referring to? (if you don’t mind me ending a sentence with a preposition).

I spent a long time listening to the 510s at Munich several years ago and I thought they were great without the sub. I hate subs BTW.

The ones in the pic are 712s.

308s (I think) in contention for “worst speaker positioning … ever!” in the desktop system.

Complete with oddball “Stargate” amp

and @Mrs_Maureen_OPinion cables IIRC

Ohh, I thought the 712s were the ones with the ferocious-looking stands.

Your picture makes them look less brutal.

Yeah, they aren’t too bad. I’ll get the Kudos out the way for serious listening but they give a useful idea of scale.

TV looks crooked. Makes the place look untidy.

It isn’t, I am.

Crooked or tidy?

(waits for inevitable punchline)

There’s yer problem…

You need substantially more expensive cables :+1:

There is someone (foot in mouth if they are on here) on PFM selling a Sarum for £750.

They have announced you could use it as trade in against the better Sarum for a £700 off new discount.

Errr… isn’t that a £50 loss?? Doesn’t seem to be a selling point to me!!?

I packed my 508s back in the box. Sounded great but could only place them in the window which wasn’t practical. I use Sonos speakers in the office which are fine for background.

Daughter reminded me the 508s are 18 years old. I still think they look great.

Well the LV OBX-RW have arrived and after only two LP’s I am very very happy. I can hear so much more into the performance compared to the Avatar’s. Suspect much more to give as the drivers are brand new although the cabinets aren’t. Also using basic cables between crossovers and the speakers.

Will do photos when the room is a bit tidier.
