So my contract is up for renewal shortly. I am currently have a perfectly reliable 500mbps service with Gigaclear but after negotiating a new contract price I have found that I can get Sky Broadband and Ultimate TV package for an additional £5 a month (via Confused.com) which will give me Sky Atlantic, Netflix, HBO, Disney plus and Discovery plus an £80 voucher to use at a variety of stores. Seems like a no brainer but what is Sky like these days? I would rather pay the extra for reliability and customer support if needed and Gigaclear are excellent on that front.
They give you what you pay for and you get the service they advertise.
I’ve never had any issues with them beyond the prices going go when it’s time to negotiate.
They do stick the bills up in April, like everyone else.
I have flipped between sky and BT many times and the only difference is the bank statement.
Gigaclear is an alt-net, with their own network completely. Sky uses the Openreach network. This change is not like flicking between Sky and BT, which use the same hardware.
That said, in the vast majority of cases nowadays broadband just works. The reasons it might not are usually very local, so your neighborhood WhatsApp is a better place for help than here.
Just make sure that the Sky offering is FTTP, ie full fibre, as that’s faster and more reliable than copper. Your Gigaclear will be FTTP.
