A friend’s building a house & wants to put a hifi in the lounge. Problem is, there’ll be a full width window in the 25m2 living room (nice view) with 50cm between the floor & the bottom of the window and he wants speakers that don’t extend above this low wall.
Any suggestions for speakers that height designed to be put on the floor? Or just put bookshelf speakers on tilted-up bases?
Budget is <£500, second hand is fine.
Thanks
Shahinian Elfs can go on the floor, sitting on Ikea stands but they’re rare secondhand.
Larson?
Tone Scouts are the answer to everything.
A very sensible and attractive option. Probably about as well as you will be able to do.
Taller speakers laid sideways on low stands? (OK, imaging may not be as good, and possible bass boom…)
Would Larsen 4.2 be small enough? Only the top grille section would probably stick above the wall.
Really great little speakers, superb bass from such a small speaker taking advantage of the wall placement.

Sonabs OA 4 would do it just under 500mm tall. They sound lovely but are now quite rare
Thank you for all the suggestions (except the Tonescouts obv ) - I’ll look into them
There is also the Klipsch Hersey but I thought they were pretty arse.
