I have no time for slip-ons.

I used to think that until I started buying and wearing well made shoes that fit properly
They don’t slip on by the way, I still need a shoe horn.
Perfect for changing into after golf especially those places who don’t allow trainers etc etc.
Also have a pair of single monks that fit perfectly and are very comfortable

I solve this problem by not going to such places. Even though I don’t wear trainers.

Lots of golf clubs are like that. No trainers, no jeans, no hats in the clubhouse etc etc
Not all by any means, quite a few have spike bars where you can get a drink and something to eat in your golf shoes.

Like those. I’ve been looking for a pair of brown loafers.

what shop did you see these in, my Mother wants a pair

Fit perfectly. But I bought the wide version.

Sooo, chunky brogues…

My mum has just given me 200 quid for my birthday (a few weeks early, but, hey), and asked me what I was going to buy…

Nigh on 50 years on the planet has taught me to absolutely avoid answering this question with “Records” or “an amplifier/CD player etc” or anything remotely to do with motorbikes. So I said “Some nice shoes”.

This pleased her immensely, because back in the day, when she could wear other shoes than Ecco or Sketchers, mum had a massive shoe fetish.

I have fancied getting some nice tan or maybe oxblood chunky brogues for a while. I like Loakes, especially the Chesters, which i can get from the factory shop for about £185 or maybe the Bedale boots if I can find them at the right money.

Any other suggestions around that money? Happy with factory shop stuff.

I read the title and was going to suggest Loakes until I got to your last paragraph.

I have a pair of these

in black and I think they’re very good. Although last winter they did turn out to be (repeated) funeral shoes :grimacing:

The oxblood would be a good choice for “not on my way to a funeral”

Got some black Loake brogues, not chunky so quite formal, I’m getting to the age where they will start being pressed into regular funeral service fairly soon I suppose.

Should be cutting the grass rather than lounging in your cheese graters
