Spices

Made a couple of batches of curry powder today (roasted and unroasted) and I realised that some of my herbs & spices are getting a bit low.

Any recommendations for buying them online in reasonable quantities?

Type of thing I need are

Coriander Seeds
Whole Cumin
Saffron
Peppercorns
Cayenne
Paprika

etc, etc.

Rajah and TRS are decent quality and cheap if you buy the big bags.

If you like asafoetida this is the best I’ve tried, not mostly flour like some others I’ve had.

What’s wrong with the place down the road?

Spicy but not much use in a curry

Natco is my main go-to, the quality of their spices is high (no fillers, fresh), the range is good, but stocking is frustrating at times.

Also lots of dry staples (dhals, flours, rices &c), sauces, chutneys, tinned goods, jaggeri, &c.

Compared to the more tryhard companies, prices are good. If it’s in stock, their saffron is top quality and a bit of a bargain.

Thanks for the suggestions guys, all sorted now :+1:

We use and trust Fox’s Spices for single ingredients and mixes. Better quality than anything else we’ve tried and their Mixed Spice and Garam Masala are out of this world :yum:

They aren’t on t’interweb but have a page on faceache and a downloadable catalogue. You can then order by phone or email - they say they are building a website but don’t hold your breath…

I know, but they are worth the faff

A local shop sells that brand. I think they also do chutneys, chilli pastes etc…? Vague memory that their sambal manis was very nice.
