Carpenter’s Porn

Table top is coming on. Ended up having to use four mill sawn Oak planks to get the material with the figure on I wanted. All four now planned to near finish thickness, twist, bow and cup removed. Two on the bench prepping up for the first join. Pile of shavings about five foot square by two high :ok_hand:

Do you have someone you sell your shavings/dust to? I am sure there must be a local smokery or restaurant, that would be an outlet.

Started on the other half, finished one plank but the other plank had washed out figure. It was cut too far off the quarter to keep the ray. Need to cut another, hey ho.

How to cut the board lengthways, kneel up on the bench and get right over it. Get about 5mm per stroke

That is 2.5 mm more than @MGOwner manages (or so I’ve been told).

Any reason why you couldn’t have started at the other end to avoid getting on the bench?

He could have lain on the floor and cut it from underneath.

Big leg vice in the way and I find it easier getting right over the top of the saw. No room for a couple of saw benches unfortunately.

It took a few weeks for the tung oil to catalyse, spent a bit of time rubbing it flat, sufficient to make a choir boy proud for a bishop, finished now.
