Although I’m tired of his schtick, all I see in whatever web bubble I’m in is severe division. The sad thing is those causing the division will continue to win until something truly awful happens in a way that affects everyone.
It seems people have forgotten none of us are a million miles apart, we have more in common with each other than the focus of today’s un-reality. FFs we share 60% of our DNA with bananas.

I thought this was a very interesting piece. It’s specifically a response to Ezra Klein’s rather shitty Kirk apologism, but I think a fair chunk of the thought process applies just as much to what we’re seeing in the UK as well:

Hasn’t it always been like this though ? These ‘debates’ are just very heavy on the rhetoric and light on the logic. There isn’t the opportunity properly to scrutinise the arguments (for want of a better word) on either side.
Perhaps the new thing is that almost the entire audience isn’t actually there, so they only get to see what their man edits out for them. More fool them. That’s not new either though. Newspapers have edited arguments since they (the newspapers) first appeared.
