Parker is the local Pastor.

Actual Jesus.

Maybe he’s been told to get shot if he wouldn’t pose.
He actually looks sadder than Droopy.

I think that is about as good an illustration of the worship of idols as you can get.

Strange coincidence. I just noticed the licence plate in the window: NYUSZI. As I mentioned recently in the Any Old Pics thread that was my grandmother’s nickname. It is Hungarian for little rabbit.

From twitter thread above…
Just 3% of American adults own a collective 133m firearms – half of America’s total gun stock. These owners have collections that range from 8 to 140 guns, the 2015 study found. Their average collection: 17 guns each.

The anti gun people of America need to have a whip round and offer a few Republican senators enough cash (IE more than the NRA or gun manufacturers) to vote for gun control. Make it lucrative enough and they will do it. It’s not about principles it’s about cash.

What a stat (From Huffington post)

“Since Columbine in 1999, more than 311,000 students have experienced some form of gun violence at school. And it has stuck with them.”

The impact of capitalism communism on modern day Seattle.

There was an article a few months back about trailer parks with no sewage services - just pipes onto the ground outside the trailers.

And the homelessness is appalling

There was an article today about how this issue, with its concomitant rising crime, is looking likely to push California to vote Republican.

So they can shoot them? Who do they think is behind the root causes of poverty?

When I was a kid, Bournemouth (and most other S. Coast resorts) started changing from genteely-decaying seaside resorts for the elderly, to Scouse-on-Sea, as all the smack-heads and long-term hopeless worked-out that the climate was better and started to concentrate there. Makes sense, if you’re going to live a short, numb life of crime and chemical excess, and you’re going to live a lot it of outdoors - because society wasn’t giving you any other options - then you may as well do it somewhere comfortable. I’d do the same.

Back when Sam worked in SanFran - and despite several years of drought - there were special ‘cleanup’ vehicles that drove around all the touristy and upmarket blocks of the city every single night, spraying gallons of water onto the sidewalks and into street doorways - soaking any hapless ‘bums’ and ensuring they couldn’t sleep and panhandle anywhere visible

If you fall through the cracks of US society, you really do have nowhere to go - and all it takes is one big medical or legal bill for it to happen to the best of them.

Ever since the cynical evil of ‘care-in-the-community’, we’ve been headed the exact same way. Once the NHS is fully privatised, the tory wet-dream will be fully spaffed.
