Tennis - at least it's marginally more interesting than golf

As someone said earlier, what with a bit of work and some travel, she’s really smashing her gap year.

Epic! And she’s not a miserable Scotch twat, which is a plus. :grinning:

I rest my case. Thanks for an awesome display Emma :bowing_man:

No. She seems genuinely thrilled to be where she is.

Makes you very proud to be British.
Both young ladies are a credit to the game.

That was a very good match.
None of the nerves, going of the boil etc that so many suffer from. That was from both of them.

The technical ability of both, off both wings, serve and even volleys, amazing level, relentless.

The net cord noise some of you referred to, is a mic echo from the hit of the serve.

It won’t be long before net cords on serve are a thing of the past. They are trialling no net cords in the juniors this year I saw.
Have not had them at the next gen year end finals tournament for the last 3 (I think it is 3) years.

Isn’t automated line calling fantastic!
So many of those great rallys would have been stopped by a nervous error prone human line judge calling out, when the ball was 99% out, but 100% in🙂
Up to the player to challenge, replay the point etc etc, waste of time and great rally.

Wimbledon and Aus open and all ATP and WTA masters at least should have automated.

Tomorrow Djok goes for the year slam.

Well I managed to miss the entire bloody thing due to other family stuff annoyingly.
Must try to watch it on catch up somewhere.

I didn’t realise it was in place.
I wondered why there were no appeals to some quite close calls.
I was so caught up in the tennis I didn’t notice the absence of line judges. :grinning:

For some reason they kind of have it at Wimbledon, the umpire (and commentators) get the automated line calls for each shot. I think the umpire can over-ride for certain shots but for most they wait for the player to object.

Indeed. You can either bask in the reflected glory of her victory or you can push back migrant boats but you can’t really do both.
