It has been a fun morning. A diversion came in 24 hours late. No problem, shit happens!
Diversion doesn’t really make sense. Knowing this, a Controller tried to call me on a radio that has been reported as fucked since 2021.
So I couldn’t hear the call and I couldn’t respond.
Because I’m fed up with being treated like a cunt, I won’t use my telephone as requested.
So I went on the diversion as indicated by the boards.

Especially when the industry has such a high staff turnover!

Ashamed to say I had to carry out an Internet search to remind myself what it is! I knew it was a Bristol Commercial Vehicles product though.
It is a Bristol SC4LK with a Lowestoft built ECW body.
It is a lightweight bus and is actually quite influential. The Great Grandfather of the typical UK Single Deck bus!
A real classic!

Proper bus colour.
When I were a lad, I wanted to drive GKE442Y. It wa the first double deck coach I remember travelling on.
I remember it on Invictaway routes and also routes to Hastings.
I did get to drive it thanks to a good friend of mine. Driving my childhood dream was not disappointing at all.
It was a challenge though. At the time, the longest 'decker I drove was 10.5 metres long.
These are just over 11 metres. Much of that is mid-wheelbase. So getting it parked in a barn was… tight!

Edit no it isn’t becase the white bits were painted grey livery too. Grey roof to make it less conspicuous to bombers. Great picture. Fuck driving in that time and place.
