Really? Have a chicken…
I am surprised they are not concerned about the effect on their investment, perhaps the latest tax rises and abolition of tenant fees will persuade them to sell up and let someone responsible buy them
Did an 8 jar batch of tayberry (2/3rds) and raspberry (1/3rd) jam yesterday, pretty much the end of those for the year.
Have a lot of plums (Oullins Gage and Victoria) on the trees, but they will be a couple of weeks yet - will have to scrounge jam jars before then, or make a lot of wine!
The farm that’s closet to us where we walk the hound through has beans in one field and courgettes in the other. Always seem to have a surplus of both at home…
You learn a lot on AA , never heard of tayberries
One of several raspberry / blackberry crosses. Not, IMHO, quite as nice as loganberries, but tasty and prolific. I have the thornless variety, so easier to deal with than spiky ones.
We went on a canal walk Sunday and saw loads of BlackBerry bushes not quite ripe but in a few weeks I guess they will
Mine are changing colour now. I expect I’ll have the first batch picked at the weekend.

Just got back from the caravan and the plot has gone mad. Cucumbers, mini and long. Courgettes turned to marrows. 1lb strawberries from the greenhouse. Cabbage, new potatoes and cauliflower ready as are the beetroot. Massive crop of various hot chillis.
But the greenhouse tomatoes are a disaster. The ones in the pots are fine but they are the cherries. The main crop in the trench have died back.
Actually it overran a bit, but I put 3lb in the freezer on Monday and another pound of odd ones today. They’re probably just a bit too sharp to eat raw without, say, sweetish ice cream. But perfect for cooking.

does someone water them while you are away ?
The greenhouses are on an automatic watering system Phil.
Ah very clever
Today our first cabbage - It was enormous and even after removing lots of outer leaves it still weighed 1.5kg.
Jenny planted a couple of pumpkins this year, they have loads of flowers, but the pumpkins form, grow to about the size of a golf ball and then drop off
