Ok, so we have a YouTube thread but where is the gram love?
Before half a metric ton of meatmen post ‘I don’t have an account’ the answer is quite simple. Perhaps you are missing out? This thread is for the weird the wonderful and other unmissables .
Only missing out in the sense that if I walked out of a rural hall town hall just as a disgruntled farmer was drive-by muck spreading the building, and I escaped a coating of shit.
Pisstaking aside, I’ve little doubt there’s some superb content on most of the social media glands like Insta, but I only have so much Life available to devote to the passive consumption of Stuff, so am long-since resigned to a limited intake.
However, I will keep an eye on this fred in the hope of some ragebaity meltdowns along the way
There are amazing things on instagram. It’s not just the great content that is great content, though. Some of the stuff that people post, not realising just how mental they look, or not caring, can be pure gold.
The top link in the OP is a guy who is the owner of one of the top Parisian tailoring houses. His page is just fantastic for the observation of the kind of mad delusion that the internet allows. We quite often have half an hour here of hysterics watching him. It’s like he re- jigged his meds a while ago, liked it and carried on! My mind just boggles. Not only that, it works! He has a huge following kissing his arse and his business is booming. They recently opened a very swish boutique in Clifford St, just off Savile Row.
Each to their own, but I’m happier with less social media in my life, so I just don’t have Insta, Faecesbook, Tiktok, X, and for the last 2 years I’ve also cut off the money siphon that is Amazon cos Bezos is a wanker reasons.
(I fully accept that I might have a different attitude if these platforms were a route to market for my business).
Yes, I never really used it until I had to. It’s like crack once you start, though. To be honest, I wouldn’t be without it now. I get loads from it in bite size chunks. Music, politics, sport, etc, etc…
Hel loves it and watches for the antics of some crazy posh woman who sells antiques using the drama of and ridiculousness of her personal life. It drives me up the wall
Yes, its called the bits of my life when I’m not working - playing with the dogs, cooking, listening to records and so on. All of them more helpful to me personally than scrolling. YMMV.
It’s handy for listening to records and finding a lot of new stuff, linking up with like-minded people, trading, buying etc. Getting recipes and seeing how things are done, planning holidays, what’s good and where, looking at future exhibitions, laughing, etc etc. It can’t walk the dog though. Personally I hated the idea of it but with lockdown came a little extra time to piss about. I’ve met, seen and done a lot more with it than without it. Cool though I’m not an evangelist.
