Purpose built for racing. Very fast but unforgiving
Hope they go steady, by all accounts the airframe is in a bad way with corrosion.
"The ship was painted with “I.F.” on the cowl for Intestinal Fortitude… ".
Gotta love Wikipedia.

Easyjet flight arriving in Bodrum?
What an image!
Here’s an album with some 400 or so photos from this year’s event. Some absolute belters in there!
Three Argosies (?) lost in crashes, though only one with fatalities. Three Comet 1’s lost, all fatal. “Takes good care of you” hmmmmmm
Not lost as such, just excessive ground approach speed.
Anything Saunders-Roe, but that in particular - nobody asked for it, nobody wanted it, but they did it anyway, and put the sucky part of a jet engine less than a metre above the waterline.
I cannot even begin to express the outermost misty-tendrils of my galactic-nebula-sized respect for test* pilots of the 1940s-1960s. I’d have handed-in my flight jacket and gone home to grow dahlias the moment I set eyes on aviation’s attempt to resurrect the Moeritherium…
*‘Test’ being an abbreviation of ‘Testicular Fortitude’.
Eric Brown gave a talk at my university in 2000. He attributed his continued existence to learning from people like Jeffrey Quill who combined a fanatical attention to detail with a willingness to tell a company to do one if there was something they were completely unhappy with. Given that Brown made his first helicopter flight after reading the manual in a pub garden over a pint and a ploughmans, that might need to be taken with a pinch of salt but both he and Quill survived to retire where many didn’t.
