I ran a black one in Canada in '95-6 - came to me with bent US-spec raised bars, so I fitted shorter slightly dropped bars that made it look like a cafe racer. I thought it went alright, but then a work mate with a ‘fettled’ Katana 1100 joined the highway alongside me, there was this weird howling noise and he was a dot in the distance
It ended up black. I worked in a bike breakers for a while, got a 650F motor with a GPZ750 top end. Went ok for an old dog.
I miss it tbh, had real character. 2 weeks ago I cut the frame up and chucked it in a skip.
Sad to hear that, but restoration is an expensive game even if you had the time, so buying one someone’s done already is usually better / cheaper, even if you wanted another Z
