The Cure or the Bunnymen?

If you want to compare two bands go ahead.
It’s just too random for me.

I can’t do it. Just has no objective basis. You can talk about what you think about one or the other…

But it’s like comparing radishes to sprouts.

The Cure, even if you only listened to Pornography and Disintegration.

you’ve just discounted 99% of the internet

I’m pretty sure I’ve never knowingly listened to either of these bands

In fact, I can confirm that “sudo rm -rf” does a remarkably good job of this

I’ll take the question seriously for a minute. EATB had one outstanding LP, Heaven Up Here and one classic single in The Killing Moon and were fucking rubbish by 1987. Has anybody actually taken any of their post 1987 records seriously?

On the other hand The Cure have produced a string of decent singles and several classic LPs. Admittedly Bloodflowers was a bad idea, and anything since then is duff.

I couldn’t be arsed to walk down the road to a gig EATB played in the local park such is my indifference to their live show. This has happened more than once since we moved to Liverpool as they play Sefton Park relatively frequently.

OTOH, The Cure are always decent live. Granted you’re never going to see shows with the intensity of their 1982 tour again, but they are good fun. Watching Fat Bob ham it up at Glastonbury a couple of years ago was priceless.

Not really having done either for “not that old” reasons, one question about that performance.

You have a keyboard player in the band.

Why, out of all the things they could do in the entire set, did they not do the obvious thing of playing the opening piano chords in Burn?

Quite so.

Duh. That would be a total waste of the eleventy backing tracks that they play along to these days.

having seen both back in my student days - neither made such an impression on me that i remember anything about them. Although I think i acquired a Bunnymen album at some point only to have it nicked by a housemate. I did try and buy tickets for a Cure gig a few years ago, but lost the enthusiasm

The only other Bunnymen i can remember took batteries, but i think that was something else
