Maybe not where I live…
Assuming a car that does 180 miles on a full charge, you leave home full, charge 150 miles in. That does your pottering about hotel/work, and you charge there again on your way home. It’s eminently doable, you just need to plan it.
EVs are pants if you have to make many unpredictable journeys. If yours are predictable, you should be able to make it work with a little imagination.
A fair few pubs around here have popped up with rapid chargers as well. You could find a suitable one for a journey, stop for dinner and a pint, and your car is full. It’s all about finding a way to make it work for you.
EV’s are not really an environmental solution.
Car ownership is the bigger problem.
This is true, it is a help but not the solution.
I once read that an average car uses more energy to produce than it does in its lifetime of fuel consumption.
Anybody know if this has any basis in fact?
Quite like that.
On average it takes about 3 years for an ICE car to produce as much co2 as it does to make it but it varies a lot depending on manufacturer and vehicle model. I think a few electric models are now down to about 2 yrs. Hybrids are the worst as they have by far the biggest production carbon footprint.
Thanks
If you want to be green get rid of your flea ridden mutts…
Just read some reviews and watched some vids on the ID3. It looks the business, great range too (on the top model) - 340 miles.
Crucially, I like the looks of both the exterior and interior
Did they poach the ds3’s exterior designer then beat him with the vw boring stick?
I like it. It looks like a car and a darker colour will probably work well. It’s not a prerequisite of zero emissions motoring to look like a Tomorrow’s World presenter. I like the sound of the ID3R too.
Still has the want for one of these
Tri motor AWD 0-60 claimed as <2.9 secs. Will also fit in my new garage.

And then there’s the promise of the camper option pack…
It’s mad. But it has got All the Powa!
I’ve got three bare metal titanium bikes and I love the practicality of no paint. You just buff out any scrapes.
In practice you’d only ever see the back end anyway…
Electric car with coal grill? Mixed carbon messages ftw.
And how precisely is that going to comply with pedestrian impact type approval requirements?
