Hearing that quite a lot. I think they’re overwhelmed with EV drivers switching to them.
The meter issue was just down to a contracted company and not in their gift.
The cock up connecting it was a real pain as it seemed to be a blame game between three different parties.
Although it took from November (meter) to late January to get onto Go, they weren’t shy in offering £ to compensate.

I raise you a Cybertruck
I can see that.
Looks as though the front’s from a different car. One that doesn’t fit - there’s an odd sort of a vertical line down from the base of the windscreen
That’s fupping nice - is that red or orange?
Have you got lunatic mode?
Just my terrible snaps. I pinched somebody else’s picture to show the colour better. Ignore the fact this one’s an older car from when they had chrome rather than black detailing and slightly different aero wheels.
I think that’s only available is the barking mad version Model S P100D.
Of course the only thing faster than ludicrous is plaid.

Once lockdown is less restrictive and main dealers are open for business, we’ll be testing driving some small, runabout milk floats with the view to replacing our Fiesta.
I have become increasingly conscious about how filthy it is for the regular short trips it makes, a 2L engine doing 2 to 5 mile journeys isn’t good <30mpg. A while ago I’d written off cars with a 100mile range as unworkable. However having really thoughy about it 100+ mile range will get me to work and back at least twice and cover all the local driving we do.
Will keep our Honda Civic for longer trips up the motorway which we do quite frequently due to aging family spread across the UK.
Zoe, Leaf, pug 208, corsa e. Honda-e. Looking forward to test driving them. I expect we’ll pcp a fiesta sized EV for 24 to 36 months.
I need to start reading about home charging systems. Charging away from home isn’t going to happen unless we somehow bugger up so doesn’t really concern me atm.
Is there a good website you guys in the know can recommend to get a decent overview of what’s what with home charging please?
Look into the cost as well. Our lease covers everything - all maintenance, tyres, breakdown; tax is zero. Total cost is under £200/m. When you compare this to the running cost of an older car, it can actually be a straightforward cash saving. I was really surprised when I did the maths.
Yes thats all part of the equation.
Road tax on the fiesta is £265 + service + repairs is pushing upwards of £800 a year, not including fuel.
My mind is made up really, we’re doing it. Just need to decide on the car and then find a winning deal.
Should add, it would also replace aroudn 50% of the milage on the Civic, that will also save money.
All home chargers are, in effect, switches. The actual charger is in the car. They fall into two categories:
Dumb switches, which basically just charge the vehicle straight away when plugged in and don’t qualify for the grant, and ‘smart’ switches which have some kind of app that has control over scheduling and might do some other things like integrate with solar installs. These get a £350 grant but you have to watch dodgy installers don’t just hike their prices to absorb it.
Websites guides are pretty shit, but this one is OK
I also found a lot on info on YouTube, as per.
Thank you, I didnt know any of that. I’ll start reading and youtube…
You can just plug it in. I bought a weatherproof 25m extension lead for such a purpose. You don’t have to use a station, although a station is likely to be 32A, whereas plugging in gives you 10A. This will probably be an issue if you want to take advantage of cheap night-time tariffs.
Is there any reason why you (not you specifically) couldn’t run a dedicated cable from the consumer unit and fit a 32A socket outside?
The best range of the ones you have listed. The corsa is shite and I would take it off the list.
As above. You can use a normal plug.
We paid 500 for a home charger but this will not do anything more than speed up the charge time by about 66%
We never charge outside of 0030 to 0430 to take advantage of 1/3 price leccy. The saving will eventually pay back the charger (take a while!).
