Has range been a bugbear for you? 6k miles per annum seems like light use. But if that’s two 300 mile journeys a month then of course it depends on the specifics.
Can you get it through your business? If do then I would think it is a no brainer.
Meanwhile, it appears that VW used up all of their reserves of charm and personality on the ID.Buzz as the ID7 has precisely none. I have seen a couple out and about and the rear end is hopeless.
I’m not really your man for reviews I’m afraid.
Firstly I don’t obsess about specs and feature details and I don’t blow up slight niggles into mountains, and I’m not pre-occupied with maximising my bang for buck or FOMO. I don’t crawl all over the car’s performance, miles per kw/h etc, in fact I doubt I’ve ever looked at mine. I rarely take much interest in car reviews much unless I think what they value in a car is similar to me in some way which it rarely is.
I pick something that meets my needs at the time and drive it (a bit) and then move onto something else I quite like the look of. What drives my choice probably won’t be much in common with anybody elses. I picked the etron almost entirely based on how well my two big dogs were accommodated in the boot. This time around I’ve realised that we tend to use Hel’s mini clubman for carting them around because the dogs fit well and its easier for Saffy to jump in and out.
This time around I’ll focus less on needing to fit dogs in, and more on convenience of battery range and speed of recharging, even though I only tend to make a trip to the client’s HQ once every couple of months (280 mile round trip). If its got a comfortable driving position, good visibility, reasonably roomy and ability to lug stuff now and again that’s as choosy as I’ll be. Not badge snobby but put off by subjectively poor interior/ body styling & design.
Also not likely to get another Audi and the P3 I’m not especially drawn to.
Strangely yes. Even though I don’t have that many long journeys, the low range (180 miles typically) of the Etron makes a 280 mile trip a complete ball ache. Finding a charger that is working and available, and putting up with other people dancing about their use with ‘invisible’ queues gets on my tits maybe more than it should but it really does.
Given my two main clients who want me to come into their HQ to run stuff for them are do-able with a 300 mile plus range then that’s what I’ll be looking for this time.
Priority should be, will it fit the lanes down to Lopwell, does it have enough room to lug the R2R stuff and all the veggie catering requirements and if you need a recharge for the trip?
Funnily enough I’ve wanted to take both R2R decks to Stephen/ Vintagetech in Peaslake but the thought of having to stop and charge twice on each journey just put me off so they’re still sat there waiting for me to change the car.
See, you can forget all that nonsense you wrote,
In no particular order your priorities are
- Hi-Fi
- Dogs
- Range

A2 Milkfloat! Not for production though…
FFS This appeared on the display yesterday, I’ve spoken to VW and they advise not to drive and they can’t book it in until the of next week. Apparently it could be a variety of things, from resetting the entertainment system to battery module failure to battery cooling system failure FML
Ps: I’ve reset the entertainment system, no change
Want to try it yourself?
I will get the guy who does our MOTs and the wife’s car to plug it into his diagnostic equipment.
I’ve just been out to the car and it hasn’t charged, the charger has tripped
Capri Roadtest:
Yet another fucking SUV. God how I hate and detest SUVs.
SUV- TLA - two untruths.
Looks like keep the Climate Control and skip the rest.
With that many errors is it the 12v battery or some rogue earth issue?
