The Monarchy (now mostly about money)

I’m guessing the monarchy isn’t going anywhere after a week or so. Perhaps it might have been prudent to lay the boot in then? Otherwise the valid points raised are easy to portray as ‘Loony’ Snowflake Loner dick moves.

I’m not a fan of Elitism or the Monarchy my point is cheep stunts will be reflected as just that.

How old are you that this is news? Same for the military. This is not exactly A New Thing. Since these concepts were invented it’s been so. At times, they protect the interest of all of us, but their #1 job is preserving the status quo (no, not that Status Quo…).

It sucks, especially when it’s misused and abused, but it’s also part of the price for what we call ‘civilisation’. Unfortunately, because people are cunts - we can’t just pick and choose the bits we like.

let people enjoy things

His crime didn’t occur in our jurisdiction; his victim received the settlement she wanted. Annoyingly, it’s case closed. That the vile nonce has dared to show his face in public is typical of his unspeakable arrogance and conceit.

As for the protests - that’s a case of ‘choose your battles’ - they’ve got 360 or so other days in every year to make their point, and plenty of legitimate ways of doing so - fucking things up for large numbers of people that - however you may feel - are feeling a sincere sense of loss is inviting violence upon themselves and exactly the plod-related aggro they have been on the receiving end of.

I don’t entirely disagree with you, and I definitely don’t trust any response that boils down to “they were just following orders”, but we don’t live in a perfect society, and actions have consequences…

I do like that the BBC’s extensive coverage is now being referred to as MournHub :grinning:

At no point have I suggested it’s news to me.

The grovelling shits lining the streets however.

None better than right now though. Look at the coverage!. They’re doing the right thing. Good on them.

Yeah, but he’s in a small republican minority. If any significant number of people agreed with him he could march a few hundred thousand of them along The Mall and get himself heard that way. But they don’t.

However by making a scene with his mates in the week that the media are obsessed with the Queen’s death he can get to argue his point on Newsnight.

In a democracy minority viewpoints struggle, unless they’re lucky enough to hold some balance of power (eh, Arlene Foster ?). He really couldn’t let this opportunity pass by.

Along with the latest neologism moke

gaga.gif etc.

Victoria station very busy outside this afternoon.

Lots of police, even more private security, lots of uniformed army and navy.

You can hear the guns going off in the distance.

Meanwhile if everyone could make sure they’re not homeless in Westminster please. There’s a dead lady that would be offended by your disgusting poverty.

Thanks for your consideration at this difficult time.

It is a loosing hand, as you say, minority compounded by giving away the moral high-ground (Extinction rebellion etc etc).
He will be ridiculed by an unsurportive larger media. Which is a shame as the debate is valid. “If you seize the limelight make sure you’re looking good…” He doesn’t.

Any context to that picture?
All i can find is twitter posts but no evidence to prove they are moving the person on.

The last time i was knelt by a homeless person was because they were unconcious and needed medical assistance.

Good to see chris grayling in Westminster Hall.
No doubt he is the brains behind organising these 10 days of mourning

Its a reasonable question, why such a childish response…
