The story goes that when Peter Walker was finalising the design of the Quad ESL57 he was also trying to strike a deal with Heal’s, to get the speaker into their prestige Tottenham Court Road furniture outlet. He reckoned he might have more success with them if he let them have some design input. The panel structure was pretty much locked by technical considerations, but he let them design the supports for it. They came up with the three little legs. They are perhaps the worst thing about the whole unit.

It doesn’t matter if it’s a Pet Food shifter or a mission to Mars grifter the thing they fail to do is put their community first. Their Ego and greed (Often both) feel the need like so many bad managers to ‘leave their mark’. Perhaps they were too busy thinking about themselves on the day at school where the teacher debated the maxim: ‘if it ain’t broke don’t fix it.’

Does anyone else find his fixation with ‘X’ just pain lame? Is it supposed to connote some hard edge bad boy taboo, exclusive mystery? As a brand It just seems so try hard and 90’s. I get he wants to go all ‘WeChat’ uber platform but it’s hard to trust an ‘X’.

It appears that if you go into someone’s twitter now wothout being logged in (call it stalking someone’s X if you want) then you can see stuff but the results are very much non-chronological. Because showing meme references from 2019 is a great way to build engagement.
