Infuriatingly addictive

For some reason the people who own the field next to where we live have decided to stick two emus in it :man_shrugging:

Maybe they’re cheaper than turkey?

Just be thankful they’re not cassowaries

Redford has decided that these need to be woofed at. He’s enjoying staring out of the landing window to get a glimpse.

Or peacocks

Peacocks are a nuisance but cassowaries can be quite dangerous.

Good luck to her
They look quite amazing but when you have worked on a campsite on the South of France getting pissed til 2.00 and up at 7.00 every day, one of those bastards landing on top of your tent at 5.30 (or whenever dawn is) is not fun,
Firstly they weigh a ton so the impact is enough to wake you, then they start that fucking CWAH CWAH noise. :face_with_symbols_over_mouth:
We didn’t have the internet then, but by season 2 we were writing home for peacock recipes.

During WW2 my grandfather served mostly in Burma. Amongst many other things duties as a commander, he did have to apologise to the abbot of a local Buddhist monastery after some of his squad cooked and ate a sacred peacock.
