The shit that does merit its own thread

Why can’t documentaries be like this now?

How can you have a documentary about a UK railway running to time now?

Only if it involves transferring vast quantities of profits into shareholders accounts. That’s the only thing which is timely!

I have bought an inflatable kayak. Used off of eBay. Gonna drown in a loch.

Take comfort in the fact you’ll freeze to death before drowing. :grinning:

In all seriousness don’t even think about going out, even for a little paddle in the shallows, without a lifejacket. Seven people drowned over one weekend in Loch Lomond a couple of years ago, it’s freezing cold even in warm weather.

Hope you have better luck than me. Bought similar, was 70ish metres offshore on Loch Lomond when partner up front said “What’s that hissing noise?”
A Sevylor will stay afloat with 2 aboard and one side deflated, but it’s a pig to paddle.
Fixed the hole properly, sold the boat and bought a brand-new one.

Edit after previous post, second that comment, we had lifejackets

< pedant > Most paddlers that I have known use bouyancy aids not lifejackets.
It is very difficult to paddle in a life jacket, the two are not the same. < /pedant >

Point taken, my inexactitude. Buoyancy aids we had.

Looking at 100n ones. 50n ones don’t seem quite enough to me.

A heavy heart today, after 35 years of having milk delivered the luxury has become too expensive to continue and I’ve had to cancel.
Our monthly milk bill if bought from the corner shop would be £14 a month, delivered it’s costing £32. I really feel guilty about this but the corner shop is a local business and the milk delivery a conglomerate but will impact on the milkman. Surprisingly I feel both sorry and guilty about this small but possibly significant impact on a traditional way of life.

Remember when I left school and started with express dairies in 1978 as a trainee manager, they said that eventually milkman will be phased out due to supermarkets.Didn’t realise it would happen so quickly

Shame as I used to love doing the milk round.

As a child i remember Edgar the local farmer delivering milk via horse and cart, he’d ladle your milk out into the provided receptacle. He modernised and bought a Thames van and provided his own milk bottles. At least the van didn’t try to bite you when you stroked it. Happy days.
