It ws known as Small Beer, low in alcohol and considered suitable for children and servants.
Eventually phased out because tea becoming cheap and readily available, and of course the water was boiled.

Actual non hops ale was the business of women back in ye olde worlde medieval days. Then along came hops and the men took over brewing, denying women one of the few jobs that gave them economic independence, of men.

Just heard that my manager will be leaving. He has been off with mental health issues for most of the year. His manager, who managed him and then tech support manager, is in his way too. That leaves the tech support manager, a slightly emotional Italian lady managing the two bits.
Think she might upset a few of the engineers, but not giving a fuck meself tbh. Can’t be worse than me last job, and as long as they keep paying me the all is good.
Not 100% they are not losing engineers, but it seems we are probably going to be okay.
Slightly calmer.
