Belmarsh Hospital Wing ?
South east London, and the closest hospital to Brixton nick.
The “drug dealer” had come from there when the bits holding his collarbone together after a motorcycle accident had come loose.
He was paroled while in hospital, hence his clarity as to why he had been inside.
He just ate like a horse. I was nil by mouth, but had to get all the meals “and the soup” for him
Last word on Sarf London hospitals, that I’ve just remembered this morning.
The look on his face when the senior tissue viability nurse (responsible for the more technical dressings) told him “and I expect you to find a course of employment that does not involve firearms” was pure poetry.
Absolutely nobody disrespected this guy, on the other hand she was the one keeping him glued together.
An ‘interesting’ new bike saddle

Are they adjustable or unisex saddles, just asking.
Interesting article…
Well that’s surprising news
interesting design for a bunker. Golf course in Iceland on top of a deep lava flow.
Seriously though suspect a reasonable chance of flight disruption if this actually goes.
Scary stuff:
Safer darn saaf, innit
Got one of those on the Dudden, a typical short lakes river, normally 20 to 30 ft wide. At one point it falls over some gentle rapids and reduces to less than 10ft wide. You can see the bottom, as well as all the underwater shelves and snags, when the river is running low. In spate (most of the time) the level goes to 20ft deep and the surface boils. Even the mentalist canooists porter it!
Sadly not. There’s an infamous man-made one just downstream from Oxford
The frothing water contains enough air bubbles that its density is too low for people to be buoyant in it. It doesn’t matter how strong a swimmer you are, you’ll sink.
In other news, word is that the Fareshare warehouse that we used to volunteer at before Claire got so ill will get a royal visit today
Let them eat out of date cake?
There were rules about that. Our Fareshare franchise (I’m not exactly sure if that’s what it was, but near enough) was subject to the same Food Standards rules as any other distributor and the district council’s inspectors could and did turn up without warning to check us over. If they’d found any food beyond its ‘Use By’ date outside clearly marked ‘Not For Consumption - Disposal Only’ areas then we’d have been in serious trouble. As it was we were rated 5-star every time, I believe.
‘Best Before’ is a different matter. When I first started there, more than 3 years ago, we didn’t issue anything beyond its BBE date. But when supplies really started to tighten Fareshare (I think) issued guidance about allowable extensions, in general backed up by manufacturers’ approvals and, wherever possible, by visual inspections.and sampling of the items (we’d open a packet of biscuits and try them at tea break). I don’t think we ever found anything that was within the Fareshare extension to be unsatisfactory.
Fruit and veg were a daily challenge, not helped by the staff’s widely varying experience and personal standards. I’ve seen whole bags of grapes rejected because one or two looked like they had a bit of a bloom on them. Likewise I’ve seen carrots go out that were so bendy you could probably tie a knot in the longer ones. If you were going to cook and mash them on the day they went out though then they’d probably have been fine.
Stuff that was seriously beyond the pale was made available free ‘at your own risk’ to the volunteers. We’ve taken quite a bit of that home and eaten it without trouble.
Isn’t this just down to there being fewer NHS Dentists?
