Yeah. WTF indeed? The large farm Sam works for had to fight for several years just to get a similar power-onshoring project to correctly reinstate the land they were going to dig up so that it would still actually be farmable! Cost them a fortune to fight it (and enormous amounts of stress for her and the other Directors), tho’ they were awarded very substantial costs and compensation ultimately.

Bizarrely the warning on my phone was voiced in American. The thing’s usually switched off so it took me a while to find it and shut it up.

We were at the theatre last night and the alerts must have came through at least 100 times over the duration of the performance. People did t realise that it overrides any silent settings. The actors were consummate professionals throughout. They didn’t let it throw them even when the most intense scenes were interrupted by a blaring siren and muttered swear words as people tried to turn it off.
The more I think about this the less pleased I am about it. These alarms are meant to be saved for immediate life-threatening emergencies - “There is a fire and it’s coming your way”. Not “Please be sensible, or there could be a fire and people might get hurt”.
If you cry “Wolf” when there isn’t one then people might ignore you when there is.
I agree, the alerts should obviously be used for an immediate crisis not an ongoing issue.
Mine was connected to Bluetooth on the lopwell speaker , I got the slow clap for the loudest alert
