Lol, no, ground up design with suspended chassis. The tone arm is also Tony’s own design.
Beautiful. The copper/rose gold platter sets it off nicely.
Very nice indeed.
How’s it driven?
Belt.
@aja 's turntable is far too lovely for a thread packed with fugly and deserves a thread of its own.
TT Porn?
I know, but the thread consolidation police would be on my case.
They’ve missed a few golden opportunities recently
Too busy arguing in the AAAC thread.
They’re being sent on an intensive correctional course.
Is that why they’re not here to sweep up?
Very pretty. How many motors? What does the LED text on the PSU indicate?
Just the one. I think it might be a dimmer as the actual speed control is on the deck itself.
Thanks for the kind comments. A bit more info:
A ground up design all done by yours truly.
The base is a 25mm thick slab of Panzerholz as are some of the sub-chassis components.
Single Papst external rotor, DC motor, bespoke PSU, belt drive.
The TT sits in a pool of LED illumination which can be dimmed on the PSU or turned off.
Simple on/off speed selector switch
Tone arm is 10" and the arm tube is machined from a single billet
The arm vertical bearing is a knife edge and the whole arm tube can be lifted off an exchanged for another with a different cartridge for example.
Price is £15-£20K depending on finish. There is a choice of woods and practically any colour can be applied to the plinth. Lighting can be coloured if required.
These pictures are of the first prototype, I am currently building the second prototype which is finished in McLaren Burnt Volcano Orange and Charcoal Grey, it looks pretty stunning. I will post a pic when it is done.
My plan is to supply direct and demo/sell and install as part of the service. Early days yet but I am getting there. I have a holding page website at the moment www.ajaturntable.co.uk and should have a full site within the next 3 or 4 weeks.
Beautiful design, the case work is lovely, with a unique shape to it. Best wishes with the business side, I hope it all works out, it’s too nice not to.
IIRC the Emporium were trying to sell a Pearl with a wooden stand at one time, which also appeared to be a bespoke job,
