Welcome to my world.

You already know what job NOT to do, right?

Beautiful day for a trip to Wells-next-the-Sea. Complete with a crab sandwich in Mrs B’s tearooms…

For a variety of reasons I’m on my 3rd day of near-sleepless nights - had about 3 hours sleep each night, and I am not someone who does well on lack of sleep.

Tonight is the first night when I finally have a chance to get an early supper (vital) and an early night. So Sam has decided that tonight is the perfect night to take a 3.5 year old dog - the dimmest dog I have ever met - a dog with almost no recall, a neurotic dog, a dog who hates travelling in vehicles and is copiously sick unless she has been starved for 12 hours - on a 10 mile drive to go and try indoor flyball.

Indoor. Fucking. Flyball.

Sam cannot even muster the strength to lift the dog in and out of the truck (she won’t shift unless carried - the dog I mean - though that said… . . . ), and Sam is completely and utterly incapable of getting a dog to do anything she tells it to: all dogs know she’s a soft-touch and ignore her completely…

At some other time, with some other dog, this might be an amusing idea, however I cannot find enough curses, enough toxic swearing to express how I feel about it.

My day tomorrow - when I should be packing for a short holiday, fettling the truck, installing a (hopefully) nice shiny new pre-amp, I will be instead trying to remove dog vomit from the truck’s interior while Sam sits on her arse pretending nothing’s happening and that none of it is anything to do with her…

Pffft. Wimmin.

in the office this PM, meeting some of the new staff, and putting the finishing touches to an event I am running tomorrow.

On an 8 mile walk with friends.
Maybe it was fated from the start, as this pub’s gazebo blew over as we were gathering. Luckily no-one was in the way.

Most of the walk was on good paths

until we came to a section on a steep slope, with old workings and stone piles hidden by brambles and bracken. Nothing bigger than a rabbit had walked this for some time, and we were surprised to eventually discover a bench? /stile? with path markers on it.

Once through the willow herb forest

and the succeeding gorse band we did get on to a decent track back to the cars. Glad that it wasn’t me leading this week.

TF this isn’t the Wam and she’s still posting / listening

Well, I got my rant out of the way, got off my arse and took both dogs (because Max will just howl for 3 solid hours if he’s left on his own), and Sam off to Quadring.

The folks doing it turned-out to be one of the best flyball teams in the country (“High Flyers” currently seeded 3rd nationally), and were lovely to Sam and Tara.

I took the ever-grumpy Max for a long walk so he wouldn’t growl incessantly at the dogs learning flyball, and we enjoyed the late-summer sunset.

Got back to discover the farm’s donkey herd had made a break for freedom and were off up the road looking for freedom, so being the noble creature I am, I packed dogs and wife in the truck and headed in the opposite direction while frantic women with buckets of feed tried to entice the recalcitrant mokes back home…

Both wife and younger doggo thoroughly enjoyed themselves, so like it or not, this will become A Thing until Sam gets bored with it.

Was anyone sick ?

By the way, was that Quadring Eaudike ?

No, strictly speaking it was Church End, but much nearer Quadring than Quadring Eaudike.

No spew, because people actually listened and didn’t give Tara any treats.

Feels like a win, even though this will all eventually end-up being my responsibility…
