Today I have mainly been V5.0 (Part 3)

The pharmacist said it was up to me, but for preference they’d put one in each arm as neither was likely to cause much trouble on its own but there might be a tendency for both in one arm to be worse than the sum of the parts. So far (60 mins) so good though.

Shingles jabs hurt big time for about 2 days.

But I am a wimp tbh.

I love the fact that this place is populated by old crumblies.
X.

Felt a bit shit for 24 hours after my flu jab last month

Flu jab tomorrow morning, KettleJnr2 at 6 year old’s birthday party tomorrow afternoon. Not possibly the best combination.

Flu jab tomorrow morning for Sarah and I, too.

I’m down with a horrible cold. No jabs for me until it passes.

Covid and flu next week.
Pissed off that I missed eligibility for Shingles jab by a couple of months and now have to wait 4 years.
My Dad and aunt had shingles and the effects were long term (painful for the next ten years)

Tried to speak to my GP about getting it anyway due to my eczema issues but she either didn’t get what I was saying or ignored it.
Will look at getting it done privately

Lots of better things have happened today, but catching my attention right now is the fact that I’ve just been banned for life from facebook. No reason of any kind has been given (seriously, literally nothing), but I had just been sharing Meta’s own link for people to opt out of their new AI data-scraping operation…

Surely just coincidence, right…?

I know full well how utterly fucking shit facebook is, but it’s been a very useful way to stay in touch with a large diaspora of former colleagues and friends from very assorted walks of life, including running a pretty popular page for former Natural History Museum employees.

Oh well… More time to do more worthwhile things TBH.

Give it a couple of weeks and then resurface not as Mrs_M_O’P but as some sock puppet name. I dunno, say, Paul_Somethingorother.

Or do they ask for ID now ? You can guess I’ve never done SM, unless that’s what this place is. (S&M more like ?)

You have my every sympathy Ólan. The common cold is proof, if it were needed, that there is no God. No omnipotent entity who loved his children would inflict on them anything which is, at the same time, so miserable yet so completely pointless. GWS.

Got threatened by them the other day to be banned for an advert. They didn’t even tell me what advert it was.

Having a load of insulation work and new storage heaters done on the Government HUGS scheme.
Spent all weekend trying to clear as much stuff out of the way as possible.

Electrician came first thing and extended all the sockets on the external walls.

Then the insulation team (three gruff Eastern Europeans) showed up and dumped a ton of stuff outside on the pavement.
Then they fucked off to Travis Perkins (or to go to pub🙄).

Going to be a nightmare for a week or two.

As mentioned here

(over a year ago) although I’m not actually there, I understand that our burglar alarm has been decommissioned and removed.

A fair amount of redecorating will probably be needed but the areas in question have already been knocked about a bit.

Cavity wall? there’s loads of horror stories about that not being done properly and causing damp issues.

I’ve applied for the loft insulation but am giving the cavity wall a miss.

Single brick construction here - 18th century cottage.
Already have damp galore - penetrating damp in winter and humidity damp in summer.:weary:

The system is meant to be the best on the market for my type of construction but of course it all depends how well it is done.
I don’t hold out high hopes.

Will probably try to sell early next year.:crossed_fingers:

The engineer has clearly made a very tidy job of it.

Soon comes the job of removing several miles of wire.

I can do some of it, and the decorator can remove it where it has been painted in, given that he’s going to be repairing any damage done.

In the unlikely event that we ever get a replacement, it will be wireless.

All this is a necessary prelude to maybe refurbishing the garage, which is a cat’s cradle of wiring and pipes for various systems that have been put in, and in many cases removed, over the years.

Next stop: the sparks (lots of jobs for him) and repointing guys.
