Today I have mainly been V5.0 (Part 3)

Review or descent into civility?

You’re gonna need a bigger door.

Review.

The Quad website lists them as being 44Kg per side. What it fails to mention is that the packed weight is 82Kg per side (not including the transit pallet both of them are sat on). Made the mistake of moving the first one indoors before unpacking and realising what a bad idea that was.

Oh, and you need a milk float to go with that Zappi.

Imagine the fun you’ll have trying to pack them back up again then

Had Jim around today, who brought round a brace of loaner Poangs. (thanks)
The main quest
To see if a few simple fixes tamed the slightly loose bass.
Closing the port fully was not the answer - Too little
Port open with speakers dreckly on floor - Too much
Cushion stuffing plastic 25mm feet - Just right

Many thanks Jim

Oh picked up a 60’s style coffee table/TV stand locally - The guy threw in a nice large wooden table for my shed
Free gratis.

Pleasingly for Jon/annoyingly for any sense of schadenfreude, IAG packaging is generally pretty logical. I can’t imagine they’ll be a laugh to rebox but it could be a hell of a lot worse.

Thanks for asking me over Andy.

Yes, the wadding stuffed into the rear port definitely improved the bass, removing a slight bloom and making the start/stop of the notes much more defined.

Decoupling the large flat undersides of the cabinets from the floor with the feet also had a very positive effect. Not only tightening the bass, but improving the midband and imaging too.

A very enjoyable and rewarding afternoon; the new horns were really singing by the time we finished :+1:

Surely not, the highest paid boss of a federation/union is corrupt?

The fed as an organisation have done nothing of use to officers for years, this is long overdue. I feel for all the fed officers who do lots of good work day to day.

Watching a Ukrainian man trying to fit a new built in dishwasher.

Pro-tip: buy the same model as before. The door hangings are different across brands. Argh. Door still not fitted.

Ukrainian handyman may still be in there.

Finally dipping my toe into the murky waters of induction hobs. Just a single ring job, for now.

I have quite a few induction compatible pans so I’m ok in that department.

Just need to learn how to use it

Those speakers are something else, my head has been burst since leaving them

We’ve got the ‘analogue’ version of that - it’s fucking brilliant: I got it while I decided what to do about the Aga - but now I do all the cooking on two induction hobs and two oven-sized air fryers

They’re both so quick and efficient that I suspect I’m using less energy in a year than the Aga used in a week… :ok_hand:

Mine works basically the same as a gas stove, instant control, no lag like on a standard electric hob. Had mine 5 years and it has been brilliant.
On the top setting it boils a pan of water faster than a kettle.

Meeting up with more old school friends.

Six or seven, plus we’ll probably video call one in the US, out of a pool of eleven isn’t bad going IMO.

A bunch of 59yo men starting drinking at 12.30 probably won’t end well.

We’ve had an induction for about 5 years. It’s great 99,% of the time but it sometimes turns itself off. This isn’t really a problem if you are standing watching it, but if you’ve left something simmering and come back expecting it to be cooked

Am I short or are they tall?
