Trist stayed there with family a few Xmas’s ago. They went by helicopter from I think barnstaple.
When our kids were small, we often went to Devon/Cornwall on holiday. One of our fave places was Boscastle. We always stayed at the same B&B called “Lundy View” because it was nice and the folks who ran it were lovely people.
A cigar for the first meatman who guesses why it had that name ![]()
Give us a clue Jim.
It was full of puffins?
The owners had an ironic sense of humour, and in fact all you could see was the derelict gasworks with a dead cat floating in one of the tank pits?
They were French and there was something complicated about Mondays going on ?
Origonally it was called Ladies Undies bent over from the back View - because of the proximity of the local Brothel - Over time it just got shortened
Give that man a cigar, I like the way you think.
Early morning drive to Cheddar to walk the Gorge Loop with FoL & dog, followed by a Ploughman’s Lunch.
As you head south on the A39 is Boscastle the first place from which you can’t see Lundy ?
Driving back from High Wycombe via Chinnor (to check on family graves). Was at the Gate to Southwell Festival (Notts) from Thursday to Monday, then took one of the performers to Bristol, and collected a subwoofer from Swindon on the way to the bnb in Wycombe. Good festival - friendly, three good stages, nice weather and this year the bogs didn’t block. Came across a few good performers I’d not heard before. Avoided the main stage and headline acts as usual.
Surely an Eagle flew in?
No …I’m afraid not … however I was feeling part of the scenery …
Leaving internet reviews.
No I will not review the printer cartridge, the GP appointment (!) or the vape juice. However if you’re a small independent business and you do a good job then I’ll leave a positive review if you ask me.
Since you didn’t ask: roofers who turned up within 30 minutes, fixed things very quickly and didn’t try to flog me a whole new roof. And window installers who frankly finished things to a much higher standard that I was expecting.
We only noticed after they’d gone but the window installer appears to have been so professionally offended by the state of our kitchen units that he fixed a load of stuff even though it had nothing to do with the windows ![]()
More tree work with the council at Whitchurch Open Space. Working in an orchard to remove cages from and add straps to young trees. Hot and thirsty work, especially using a post rammer. I am melting.
