My Mum was a Coeliac and 20 years ago used to get the most disgusting stuff masquerading as bread on prescription. It was sort of passable if toasted.
Hopefully there are more options now.

Anyone remember the Energen gluten free rolls, all stale crust and no innards. I don’t know whether they’re still made. Used to nick my grandads for fishing groundbait.
Went to the little Tesco up the road and they had some, thank goodness.

Yeah, my ex was coeliac and she got the bread mix and pre-made bread on prescription. They were both fairly grim.
Warburtons do a passable Tiger bloomer loaf, and there’s a decent amount of choice of stuff like pasta and wraps etc now.
The loaf I made was from a GF bread flour and needed either 2 egg whites, or they could be substituted with some gram flour and a bit of extra water, which I did so as to save some faff. It didn’t rise much so wondering if the egg might’ve worked better for that, sort of like a soufflé effect.
Anyway, sorted now.
And Claire has decided that FoL#1 and her BF, who’s here for Christmas, should join her for the doggo walk. No doubt he’s going to get some gentle interrogation during the course of said walk…
FoL#2 is at the stables so I have the house to myself…
So I’m going to drink beer and play some loud music.

Drove Bristol to Brighton via Bracknell. Carmaggedon didn’t happen. The roads were on the quiet side.

You have my sympathies.
Their Sour Dough bloomer is probably the closest in texture to “normal” bread. The Genius brand brown bread is also not too bad, I’ve started having it in preference to all the others I’ve tried. It’s a lot less likely to fall apart and seems less dry.

Starting to come round after four or five days of feeling atrocious.
With three nights of no sleep.
Have to watch the wine consumption or I’ll be on the floor. Christmas Eve is the main day for the Danish MiL, then it’s my lot tomorrow.
