Used to go to Pegwell bay to watch the hovercraft’s coming and going each summer in the 70s.
Did a few crossings in those. Remember one when it was a bit bouncy, lots of brown bags in use.
In kid hell otherwise known as flip out , my lad turned thirteen today so home now for a snooze then fall guy at the flicks this evening
Bet you didn’t get any ‘after’ pics ![]()
Yes pics from later in the evening were in shorter supply.
I’m out with her fiancé next weekend for his stag…
Constructing a magnificent balloon arch for my brother in laws 50th…. Michelangelo would have carked it from his erection at the perfection of it - I know I nearly have. Meanwhile my aging mother is dancing to Buju Banton on the dance floor - a stupendous day.
Finally managed to get down to Vennford Falls today.
Then on down to the West Dart which was in full flow.
Lovely
It’s peak lushness at the moment
Absolute tosh but the kids loved it
Respect…
Treating myself to a swish phone/camera. Only ever went for cheap phones until now. My previous mobile was purchased in Dec 2018 and was slowly dying. Now have a Samsung S24 Ultra, no less. Ooh, fancy!
On my last day on Fetlar, enjoying the superb hospitality of @pmac - many thanks Paul! A final birding trip round the thickets of Funzie and Tresta before the evening ferry back to Yell, and the Burravoe campsite again.
You were very welcome, Dave.
I enjoyed having you here, it was good to see you again. Thank you for the bottle of wine you left in the porch (and the whisky & beer we enjoyed!)
Discovering (dinner time) that my fridge thermostat has failed
. The freezer’s fine, thank goodness, but all the same I’ll have to jury-rig something to keep the fridge cold while I can get a spare.
Eventually rid ourselves of our guests, who are lovely people for about 6 hours, before her obsessive-compulsive cat-simpering (“…they’re just little people with REAL personalities and such deep wisdom, &c, &c, &c, &c, &c…” She’s 68), and his ability to breathe through his arsehole while conducting unstoppable monologues about his favourite subject (himself) both wear painfully thin - making three days of it … tiring… ![]()
…once gone, we beat a retreat to the garden to enjoy the patchy sun and some very stiff tumblers of lemongrass-infused ice and tonic water that was heavily diluted with Tanqueray gin…
Churz!
