On a walk recommended by @murrayjohnson, a loop from Peter Tavy. This one, with a couple of extensions.

Passed this ruin, possibly an old smelter?

then a reminder of what Lopwell is about

Walking through Harndon I found a chap standing in his garage turning a chair leg on a pole lathe, had a good chat about woodwork, coppicing, walking and dodgy knees. His name is Mike and he’ll be at (I think) Mary Tavy show on Sunday, selling walking sticks, stools and chairs (look out for the mouse carved on the leg).
Decided to walk alongside this leat,

reminiscent of the Madeiran lavadas

Up to the weir at the end, then over the bridge
.
I went straight past the stile for the next path and had to backtrack carefully. These wall stiles would get a Mod climbing grade in the Peak.

Up onto the moor and up to White Tor

before a long descent back to Peter Tavy, passing ponies

and going through the boot wash to next gate

Sadly the foot-cooling pond was empty

so it was just downhill toward the church and village

Dinner in the Peter Tavy inn was enjoyed.
Thanks for the walk suggestion Guy!

Sadly not, it’s just a lowly f10c…:slightly_smiling_face:

There is no such thing as a lowly Lowden.

The Mana was an inheritance from a close friend sadly no longer with us, so I use it for both sentimental reasons and 'cos realistically I have nowhere to store it should I wish to use something that actually works and looks slightly less industrial (:poop:)!

I have a metric fuck-tonne of the stuff if anyone wants any!

Chopping down a 30ft wall of 8ft tall well established (far too fucking well if you ask me :face_with_symbols_over_mouth:) leylandii with a Lidl petrol powered multi tool chainsaw thingy, which actually coped remarkably well… Now completely fucked … . Dunno how all you fit fuckers cope with this gardening shit!:hot_face::hot_face:

Glad you got up there. Interesting that the pond is currently empty but they can fill it pretty quickly by tapping off the stream just above. The wooded combe behind it is a really special place.

Lovely pictures.

Enjoying the delights of Knutsford Services. Already been offered a knock off suit and a new telly. Suprised y these two enterprising gents haven’t teamed up to offer a special deal.

That stretch is truly wonderful I once did a solar job on a house right on the cliffs. I had to ring the guy once I got there so he could pick us up in his tractor as there was no access roads to the house.

The views were magnificent.
Had a decent setup notwithstanding his lp12

Not sure I could ever find it again
