You are very naughty boys, I shall buy one of you a clockwork key and the other a large wooden spoon.

Reading stuff on other forums with some astonishment. Oh and getting stuck in traffic.

Trying to kill a hangover with pig products and coffee.

Did something happen last night? I have a vague recollection of a dream where I went fishing and caught a cat-fish.

Looks like I went to bed too early last night.

It might have been more interesting if you had fought a fat-fish.

Watching rain dripping from my bathroom ceiling :anguished:

…or bought a bat-fish

I hope your roofers are aware, and will repair all damage caused, by them, not keeping you dry.!!

Drying out now.

Be glad when we get it all finished.

Seems George Osborne was right about one thing …

This afternoon line management training is going to be inflicted on me. First time it is being offered to me…although my boss has done it, and says he fell asleep during it…

I did this in Oz and then again on my return to the UK. I recommend at least a half pint of gin with your lunch. BTW, for lunch I recommend the other half pint of gin. That will insulate you against the tedium.

I obviously didn’t drink enough as I ended up with Faculty and University level responsibilities that I had to ‘plead the yellow’ to dispense with.

oh no I have already got those. I am a superb line manager…this year three of the 6 I directly line manage have left…admittedly, one was headhunted by industry, two went to a research intensive HEI and three xferred to the centre…

I had a mentoring experience like that once. Aim was to see if I could help a guy from another department who was having problems. One session with me and next I knew he’d quit.

I survived without falling asleep. I also managed not to be too disruptive, but in the bit about appraisals, when we were asked “what approach would you take with an appraisee who disagreed with you in their appraisal” I did reply “punch them in the face”, which whilst raised a laugh from my colleagues led to a frown from the HR person

Your Phd wasn’t in maths then

Not looking at any recent threads on other parts of the WWW whatsoever, honestly. That is a big fat zero.

@Rob998, have a mug of Horlicks and go to bed…
