Tools you have bought/desire

Dammit, did not see that one, looks much better made! If this one falls apart I’ll get one of those!

Yes, it’s all metal and very nicely made.

Fuckit, as I’ve not used it yet I’ve returned the other and ordered the sniny metal one, for made in Japan reasons…

A reasonable powered solder-sucker is indeed transformative - wish I’d bought one years earlier than I did, though the plunger type are still useful.

When you clean the plunger - dismantle it completely, and then when it’s clean, spray everything with a good coating of WD40 - it’s useless stuff for lots of jobs, but does help to make the next cleaning session easier by stopping solder sticking too firmly to the insides.

Bought myself a new Evolution mitre saw while Screwfix have them at 20% off. Managed to grab the last one at my local store. My previous one was absolutely hammered during our house renovation and subsequent work.

New torque wrench as I don’t trust my 20 year old one at lower settings.

Any excuse!

Busted!

TBH FoL2 stripped the thread doing an oil change on his car so thought it was time for an upgrade.

Very nice!

I helped FoL2 change all the springs and shocks on his 320D just before Christmas and said what we need is a through hole socket set when we were dicking about using an hex key and a long spark plug socket that luckily had a hex drive in addition to the usual 3/8 drive.
Guess what he got me for Christmas….

It is lovely

Very nice pressie :ok_hand:

It is indeed, will be using it for things just for the sake of it even if through hole is not needed.

One of the things I’ve been meaning to do since I abandoned a lot of tools in France is to start rebuilding a decent set. I’m not doing any profound engineering work or anything, it’s really just stuff within the DIY category, but shit tools annoy me intensely, so I want to do this properly. I’m mostly looking at screwdrivers (inc Torx and allan keys), and ratchet/spanner options. Are Wera still the preferred option, and are there any particularly recommended retailers?

Also need to get a multi-purpose drill with a hammer option. Much as the Festool stuff was lovely I don’t think I can justify that, so it will probably be Makita.
