Never had one but will perhaps scratch the itch one day. I do like the fluted plinth.
Only had six turntables in my life.
Cheap JVC thing from Richer Sounds in 1984
Revolver Rebel around 1990 had that for years although rarely used from around 1997.
JVC QL-Y5F DD with Electo dynamic tonearm. Which I kept it but didn’t realise it was so good. Around 2011
Creek Wyndsor turntable. Looked nice in Superfi Camden but wasn’t that good. Managed to PX it for a Michel Orbe. 2012, and a matter of months.
Michell Orbe with Rega then Audiomod IV arm 2012-5
SME 20/2a bought of Definitive in 2015. Still my current TT
Had an LP12 about 15yrs ago but the Linn forum instilled an absolute hatred of Linn fanbois.
Politely asked for advice on how to set it up and got no end of abuse, a forum that was only beaten on hatred by Dicky Dunn’s old racist and misogynistic puddle of incels.
The LP12 didn’t actually sound all that bad once I got it balanced ok.
pretty much but it was mainly just picking holes in how it was setup rather than providing the advice that I’d asked for.
What really did it was buying something from someone called mudcrutch and when I went to pick it up discovered he was an absolute loon and he then stalked me for months (I mean actual mental issues mad and not just Linn lunacy)
Did have a shops lp12 set up manual some years ago which had around 100 plus pages.
At the end of the day,it’s just three springs that need adjusting, and making sure the tonearm cable isn’t too tight.
Pretty much the same as Thorens ariston systemdek cj walker heybrook etc.
But for some reason people think there is some kind of mystical thing in setting an lp12 up
