He’s a fcking twat. There is virtually no wildlife left in the UK. Everything has been hunted to extinction. Seeing these birds in the wild is something every person in Scotland should get to do at least once. A school trip should be mandatory for every kid, They are absolutely majestic and seeing them up close in the wild will give you goosebumps. Magnificent creatures.

Would happily watch a TV show where he is hunted.

Could call it “The Running Man” or something. :grinning:

Yeah, it probably wouldn’t last long.

Perhaps more of a skit between shows.

Went to the Barnes wetland centre today. Sparrowhawks nesting near to the centre w/three young ‘uns who had just fledged today; managed a couple of half decent shots plus a strained neck…

ouch!

Did it survive?

I could not see anything outside, maybe from yesterday when I was mostly out in the garden but no plumes of feathers on the floor so assume it was OK.

If it was a wood pigeon their stupidity seems directly proportional to their resilience. I’ve had some belter marks on my windows, never seen one corpse. I’ve seen a couple of dead tits and and a couple of siskin. One siskin who did survive flew off straight out of my hand after a few seconds when I tried to move it to a safe level away from the local cats.

You have to be seriously unlucky to be hit by a vehicle on the road to my place but I found a juvenile Wheatear that sadly ran out of luck today

Wasn’t sure whether to post this in the brd thread or the cat thread

https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2022/aug/14/cats-kill-birds-wildlife-keep-indoors

Some Strayan states have passed laws about cats no longer being allowed out at all.
There is a burgeoning industry in Catios, an enclosed system of tunnels and spaces directly linked to the home interior. Thus allowing cats to roam with (relative) freedom without being able to attack the wildlife.

$s decides how large and/or elaborate they are.
