Ugh, estate agents

Tell that to the insurers.

I was going to say the same

The Cherwell runs close to it in quite a few places (indeed for at least one stretch they’re the same waterway) and when the river spills over the canal can fill up beyond any capacity to drain it, and carry the water to places which might otherwise have (just) stayed dry.

Don’t get me started…

It’s a wealthy area so most affected places (and that includes a former power-station with a derelict wind-tunnel inside it) are adapted to cope now.

It was £350k 2 years ago. I don’t believe they’ve done anything significant to the property apart from some bland landscaping outside and refurbed the access to the canal mooring. Bit of magnolia and white inside and that’s about it.

Lovely unique house and kind of a nice position by the canal side, it’s a bit closed in on the side and back.

No history of flooding.

Fortunately Hel much prefers the one we’re buying

Sold at auction for ÂŁ330k.

Is that the one next to the missile factory?

Less than would need to be spent on it then.

Yup.

What do you reckon,

A: bulldozed and build 4X 4 bed “executive” homes

B: bulldozed and a small development of allegedly affordable town/mews houses.

C: bulldozed and a big fuck off pikey mansion

D: quick splash of magnolia, rendered, a shiny Howdens kitchen, couple of en-suites, some inoffensive landscaping and flipped for ÂŁ500k

E: a sympathetic restoration with sensible modernisation by someone who actually wants to live there?

We were going to do E.

However I reckon D is the most likely

Just put the wife’s house up for sale. Selling agent has been okay so far. Seen a couple of houses we really like. Agents have been a bit useless. Luckily the owner was sat in the garden of one and we just had a chat with him.

Virtual tour of our home looks alright. Quite a cool thing. I like it.

Best viewing I had was when the Estate Agent couldn’t make it and I was shown round by the owner.
They happily answered all the questions the Estate Agent wouldn’t have had a clue about.

Bang on the money

Great news. Found anything you like yet ?

If it doesn’t sell in the first week it isn’t properly priced

Could be under priced, if it sells in days.
