Ugh, estate agents

I walked past this place yesterday

The doors in the row on the far side are large enough to back an artic through. There are two of these buildings - the smaller is 120,000 sq ft and the larger 190,000. Built last year, they’re both still empty.

I wonder how much they’d want for a week-end’s hire for a bakeoff ?

Wow, that will be great when you restore it to former glories. I love that style of white rendered house.

If you ring them and ask them they’ll think you’re a promoter organising an illegal rave.

The, err, let’s face it, the gin terrace, which way does it face? Or is it more of a breakfast terrace?

I’m getting bogged down in details - it looks fantastic, and big too :+1:

Sometimes you have to change your habits and routines to fit the environment.
So gin for breakfast it is!

If you’re going to borrow money to buy then I think you should make an offer on this place -

That’s a good question and not one I’d thought of. The other side of the house is pretty much on the lane belonging to the farm, which is also a bridleway. That side of the house is very plain / not particularly attractive. Although, if they had painted it in the last 8 years it would look a lot better. My point is that it makes sense to have it facing the way it does, there are just trees, a field and then a river with a few cottages / houses on the other side of the river. The house is at the top of a hill with the river at the bottom so no flood risk.

Thinking about it i think it faces east towards Newport. North would be the left of the photo I think. It’s on the very eastern side of Cardiff. 10 mins from the M4.

Yep, fuck that. If there’s one thing we learned when we were looking for our new house it’s that as a couple with no children at home and two dogs, we don’t really need or want a lot of spare unused rooms or grand facilities or grounds that might be nice to have but could turn into a complete albatross and a full time job to maintain/ pay for (hence we binned off that dilapidated wreck and a few others in better condition too).

We are also admitted that we preferred not to be borrowing a ton of money, well any to be honest at this point in our lives and completely scaled down our ambitions. The only thing we have our eye on is that acre of garden in front of the drive :deciduous_tree: :deciduous_tree: :deciduous_tree:

That’s 5 mins away from the new place.

All of that has been going round in our minds. Our current house is a bit small in just a few areas and although it is a great small development it is 5 mins from a steel works, 5 mins from the rubbish dump and there is a travellers site 5 mins away. Plus Tremorfa on the other side of the road where my 82 year old father is from is rough as. As my father would also tell you. So, although the square where we live is nice one you step outside of it its not the riviera. So, we need to move and believe it or not detached options (for HiFi reasons) are limited.

This new place is also flat so when we’re infirm we’ll still be able to live there, with a stair lift. So, hopefully this move will be forever. Or until downsizing or God forbid a home.

Newport is 10 mins and Caerphilly is 15 mins. Both of which i’ll be trying to avoid.

Balderdash, hopes of becoming Lord of Lickhill Manor (and simultaneously bankrupt) have been utterly destroyed by some cheeky chappy having an offer accepted ahead of the auction

Lucky escape…

Do you think maybe there’s some sort of catch?

What a lovely old house though. Well worth doing up, I’d have thought.

It’s a two skip clear out!

That’s one messed up house :anguished:

You’re right, four skip!
